The Second Coming Of Christ

Introduction

This will be, the Lord willing, my understanding of what the Bible, especially the New Testament, teaches about the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In this book I will deal with the leading controversies, prevalent today in the Christian world, relative to a proper interpretation of the biblical texts that deal directly with the subject of the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and of "our Gathering Together unto him," and of the "Day of the Lord," and of the "Day of Judgment," and of the "Resurrection of the Dead," etc.

Due to the popularity of the "Left Behind" series of books and movies, it is "high time" that a good book were put forth, one that the average Christian layman can easily understand, a book that addresses the serious errors that are promulgated in the "Left Behind" series, and by other books of a similar nature, all which teach a false view of the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and of the "rapture of the church," and of its relationship to the "Great Tribulation," and to the many other stupendous events of the Apocalypse.

It is unquestionably a fact that those who teach the view known as the "Pre-Tribulation Rapture" have been the most vocal and zealous in their efforts at promulgating and gaining disciples for their teachings relative to the Second Coming of Christ as compared with those teaching the historic "Post-Tribulation" understanding of the doctrine of the second coming.

It is my hope that this book will inform the average Christian bible student of the issues at stake in this modern debate over the return of Christ and help him to come to a full persuasion of the truth on this important doctrine and not be confused, as many are, by all the contradictory and confusing things being taught by those of the "Pre-Trib" school.

Paul exhorted Christians "not to be tossed about by every wind of doctrine" but to be fully settled in the truth, in all the truth and counsel of God.

"That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive." (Eph. 4:14)

That God will bless and use these writings for the good of his people, is my humble prayer. The church, considering the present state of things, in the world and among the community of Christians, is being called to "get ready" and to "prepare herself," for what is coming. Prophesied Jesus:

"Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken." (Luke 21:26)
